Do you need to worry?coronavirus

At time of this post (12 Feb 2020), we are not aware of cases in Ireland, although there have a very small number of cases in the UK, and it is obviously a significant problem in China.

The HSE have used their experience from previous serious flu outbreaks to offer advice both to the public and doctors.
HSE advice/updates on Covid 19

In short, and for now:

  1. Covid-19 infection is similar in presentation to many other winter virus infections
  2. Risk is very low if you have neither recently been to China nor been in contact with someone who has.
  3. However if in doubt, ring for advice rather than attending GP or hospital services
